Ein Komboskini, auch Tschotki genannt, ist eine geschlossene Gebetsschnur, an der das Jesusgebet verrichtet wird. Üblicherweise hat ein Komboskini 100 Knoten, es gibt aber auch Formen mit 25, 30, 33 oder 500 Knoten. Die geschlossene Schnur steht als Zeichen für das nie endende monastische Gebet. Sie wird verwendet, nicht, um die Gebete zu zählen, sondern als Hilfe zur Konzentration und für einen gleichmäßigen Rhythmus. Als Zählmittel dient ein Komboskini nur dann, wenn orthodoxe Mönche eine bestimmte Anzahl von Jesusgebeten anstelle des Stundengebets beten, falls sie an diesem einmal nicht teilnehmen können. In der orthodoxen Kirche erhalten die Mönche und Nonnen eine solche Gebetskette zur Profess.

Le tchotki est une variante de chapelet utilisée par les Orthodoxes et les Catholiques orientaux. Il est aussi appelé chapelet byzantin. Il est confectionné en laine et composé de 30, 33 ou 100 boules ou nœuds. On les utilise en récitant sur chacun « Seigneur Jésus Christ, Fils du Dieu Vivant, aie pitié de moi pécheur ! » Elle est connue à l'est comme la « prière du nom de Jésus » avec le « Récit d'un Pèlerin russe » écrit entre 1853 et 1861. Cette prière est considérée comme une voie de libération par le Nom de Jésus lorsqu'elle est répétée sans cesse. Elle apporte repentance, intercession et conduit aussi à une communion avec le Christ celui qui la récite. On peut utiliser d'autres phrases, il n'y a pas de limites : Mon Jésus, miséricorde Saint Esprit j'ai confiance en toi Sang précieux du Christ, purifie moi Merci Seigneur etc.
