abstract L'alphabet sharda ou charada (c'est précisément un alphasyllabaire) est une écriture du Cachemire née au VIII siècle, dérivée de l'écriture Gupta, lorsque le kashmiri s'est formé. Il est issu de la branche occidentale du brahmi. Le Sharda (mot qui signifie automnal) est utilisé au Cachemire pour transcrire le sanskrit. Cette écriture était aussi utilisée au nord-ouest de l'Inde, au Pendjab, dans l'Himachal Pradesh et même en Asie centrale. Les plus anciennes inscriptions connues sont des pièces de monnaies de la dynastie Utpala du Cachemire et un fragment de jarre trouvé dans le temple Avantiswami. G2
abstract The Śāradā, or Sharada, script (शारदा) is an abugida writing system of the Brahmic family of scripts, developed from ca. the 8th century. The Gurmukhī script was developed from Śāradā. Originally more widespread, its use became later restricted to Kashmir, and it is now rarely used except by the Kashmiri Pandit community for ceremonial purposes. Sharda is another name for Saraswati, the goddess of learning. Sharda script is therefore connected with learning. An effort is underway to develop the Śāradā script for use in digital media by encoding the script in the Unicode standard, for which a proposal to allocate the script in the Unicode Roadmap has been submitted as the first step.
